Internal Combustion Engines

One of my technical electives at K-State was Internal Combustion Engines. The main objective of this course was to analyze the cycles of an internal combustion engine and as time went on accounting for more and more components of the equation (going from mass flow of air to mass flow of each air component as an example). We would write the equations for various pieces of information, input these into excel, and then proceed through the cycle fractions at a time. This resulted in some awesome graphs like the one seen here.

HW 9 Plots

I realized that maybe that plot wasn’t particularly informative. The goal of the course was detailed engine analysis through its cycle. I finally found one of the excel spreadsheets that shows all the calculations, assumed properties, and more graphs. I believe this excel spreadsheet was given by my professor for comparing values at one point during the class. All values and calculations should therefore be correct.
